Dads
Dad’s Prayer for December 13th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, in Your Word, You said that salt was part of every offering. Not the showy part. The quiet part that keeps things from going bad and gives them flavor.
That is how I want to think about my ordinary acts this week. Taking the trash out without being asked. Paying the bill on time. Doing the next plain thing in front of me, even when I do not feel like it. Small acts that no one will tell a story about.
Help me value the salt. Help me not always want the showy part. A marriage that lasts is built on small daily faithfulness. A life that follows You is built on quiet obedience. I do not want to offer You something big and miss the small things that matter.
Lord Jesus, You called us the salt of the earth. Let me live that way today. Small. Ordinary. Needed. Let the flavor of this day come from the simple things done well for You.
Amen.

- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.
Matthew 5:13
