Dads
Dad’s Prayer for December 8th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says that some will walk with You in white because they are worthy. That worthiness is not something they earned. It is something You gave them. The white clothes are a gift. The walking is with Jesus Himself.
I get stuck on the word worthy. It does not mean I passed a test. It means You have already qualified me. What You give, I cannot buy. What You promise, I inherit.
So let me carry this day like a son who already belongs, not like someone trying to get in. When I walk back through the front door tonight, tired and worn, help me to love my family on purpose. Let my patience and my kindness be answers to the grace I have already received, not tries to earn something I do not have.
Lord Jesus, You made me worthy by Your blood. Let me walk this Tuesday with that truth in my chest, even for a moment. Even in the kitchen. Even in the car.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
