Dad’s Prayer for December 4th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You told Paul in Acts 18:10 that You had many people in that city. Paul was tired. The work was hard. The results were small. But You showed him that more people belonged to You than he could see.

I forget that, too. The church I go to is just one part of what You are doing. You are drawing people I have not met. Some do not even know You are calling them yet. Even my slow talk with my neighbor might be part of something bigger.

Encourage me with that. The faithful work I do this week is part of a movement I cannot see from where I stand. I am not alone.

Lord Jesus, You said the fields are ready for harvest. Help me work on the small part You gave me. Trust that You have more workers and more people than I will ever see this side of heaven.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
