Dad’s Prayer for November 28th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, 3 John says that the truth was in Gaius, and he walked in it. Both parts matter. What he believed and how he lived.

I believe the right things. But I don't always live like they're true. I believe in forever and still live for this quarter. I believe in Your family and still don't call the people You put in my life. I say I trust You, yet I still try to control everything myself.

The gap is real.

Close one gap this week. Show me one place where what I say I believe doesn't show up in how I act. And help me line them up. Not all at once. Not perfect. Just a step closer.

Lord Jesus, You are the truth, and You lived it with no gap at all. Press that same honesty into me. Let what's on the outside start to match what's on the inside. And let what's on the inside be what You've actually put there.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
