Dads
Dad’s Prayer for November 26th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You tell me in Ecclesiastes 9:10 to do whatever my hand finds to do with all my might. That means more than just work. It means the grocery run. Helping with homework. Talking to the neighbor. Doing the dishes and reading the bedtime story.
I do a lot of things at half-effort because I am already thinking about what comes next. Forgive me. Help me be where I am. The dishes matter just as much as the report. The bedtime story is not small work.
Give me full attention for today's real tasks. Even the small ones. Most of all the small ones, because that is most of my life. I have been quietly cheating the little jobs of their due.
Lord Jesus, You washed feet and did not skip one. Help me work that way today. With my whole hand on what is in front of me, not on what my mind is reaching for next.
Amen.
