Dad’s Prayer for November 25th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in Luke 4:18, Jesus stood up and read His own mission — to bring good news to the poor, to set captives free, to open blind eyes, to free the oppressed. That is why He came. Not to entertain. To set people free.

I still have places where I am held captive. I fear being unliked. I compare myself to others. I waste my evenings on things that do not feed my soul. I have learned to manage these things, but managing them is not the same as being free.

Free me where I am still bound. Jesus came to break chains, and some of mine are still on. Work in the parts of me I have been quietly keeping locked up.

Lord Jesus, You said You came to set captives free. Set me free this week in one real place. Even a little freedom in one area is more than I have been able to do on my own.

Amen.

  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
