A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says in Song of Solomon 4:12 that a garden can be enclosed, a spring shut up, a fountain sealed. That picture is about a life that is not entirely on display. Some of it is kept just for the one who loves us most.

I have leaked my inner life in the wrong directions. My deepest fears and longings have spilled into anxious talks, social posts, and late-night scrolling. Some of what should have been kept for You has been spent in chatter.

Seal that spring again. Not to hide, but to guard what is precious. Some of my best thoughts can stay between me and You. Some of my hardest confessions do not need to go on a podcast or in a group chat. Reserved is not the same as secret. It is sacred.

Lord Jesus, You see the inside life. Help me keep some of it for You alone. Let what is private in You nourish what shows up in public, without becoming the show itself.

Amen.
