Dad’s Prayer for November 17th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Romans 11:36 says all things are from You, through You, and for You. All glory belongs to You forever.

I have been living like it is all about me. I take credit when work goes well. I take credit when my family does well. When things go hard, I still make it about me — my stress, my plans, my way. I have been acting like I am the center.

But I am not the center. You are. You are the start of all things. You hold all things together. All of it is for Your glory, not mine.

Today, help me see my work and my family the right way. When something good happens, let me give You the praise. When something hard comes, let me trust You are still holding it all. I do not want to keep glory that belongs to You.

Lord Jesus, You are the One who holds all things together. Help me live inside that truth today, not outside it.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
