Dad’s Prayer for November 15th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says in Deuteronomy 32:9 that Your people are Your portion. I belong to You. I am part of what You chose to call Your own.

That changes everything. You did not choose me because You needed something from me. You chose me because You wanted me. That is not about what I can do. It is about who You are.

I know I often think about what I get from following You. Comfort. Peace. Hope for tomorrow. But this verse asks me to think about what You get. And the answer is me. I am not special on my own. But You call me precious anyway.

Lord Jesus, You paid for me so I could be the Father's own. Help me live today like a man who knows he is valued, not because of anything I have done, but because the One who chose me is generous with His love. Let me carry that truth quietly into everything I do today.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
