Dads Prayer for November 10th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Deuteronomy 33:27 says the eternal God is Your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Underneath. There is a floor under me, and the floor is You. Whatever ground I think I am standing on, the real foundation is deeper.

Most weeks, I act like I built the floor myself. My job, my marriage, my savings, my reputation. If those slip, I slip. But the verse says the real floor is held up by You. The things I can see might wobble. The support underneath does not.

Settle me on the real floor this week. Let the small worries land more softly. The bill that is more than I expected. The email that didn’t get answered. The comment that bothered me longer than it should have. Let them land more softly because there is more under me than my own plans.

Lord Jesus, You are the rock under the house. Steady me on You. Help me stop checking whether my own props are holding, and rest on the One who actually is.

Amen.
