Dad’s Prayer for November 8th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Colossians 2:6 says that since I received Christ Jesus the Lord, I should walk in Him. The way I walk should match the way I came in. I came in by grace. I did not earn it. I had nothing to bring. I just took what You offered.

But I keep going back to trying to earn my place. Once I am inside the door, I start working to prove I belong. That is not how I came in. Help me walk the same way I received You. By faith. With open hands. Taking what You give.

Let me walk lightly today. Not heavy. Not anxious. Not like my place with You depends on what I get done. When I sit at the table with my family, when I face the next plain task, help me receive what You give. In obedience. Not in panic.

Lord Jesus, I received You by grace. Help me walk in You by grace. The same hand that opened the door is still holding it open. I do not have to keep it open by my own work.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
