Dads
Dad’s Prayer for November 4th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You told Paul, My grace is sufficient for You, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Paul asked three times for the thorn to go. You did not remove it. You gave something deeper. You gave Yourself, and Your grace was enough.
I have asked You to remove some thorns in my own life. Some are still there. Help me not to miss Your yes because I am stuck on the no. Your grace is what makes the hard thing livable.
Strengthen me where I am weak. Be present in the struggle I am most tired of carrying. Let the thing I keep bringing to You become the place I see You most clearly.
Lord Jesus, You said Your grace is enough. Make it enough today, right where I need it most.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
