Dad’s Prayer for November 2nd

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Malachi 3:6 says, I am the Lord, I change not. The earlier I am in the day, the more I need that. Everything else shifts. My moods turn on whether the kid had a good morning. My energy follows the coffee. My opinion of myself changes by lunch.

You do not. Whatever You said yesterday, You are saying today. Your grace has not changed overnight. Your promises have not been quietly taken back.

Let the unchangeable You be the steady center this week. I do not need to figure out who You are again every morning. I can rest on what I already know and add to it, not start over from scratch.

Lord Jesus, You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Anchor my Tuesday in that. Help me move through it as a man whose center is not shifting.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
