Dads

Dad's Prayer for November 1st

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I keep my church life and my home life in different drawers. The me in a small group is kinder and calmer than the me at my own kitchen table on a Tuesday night. But Your Word shows believers meeting in homes, eating together, and worshiping under the same roof where they had argued the night before. I do not want church to stay at church.

Help me bring the church-self home. Let me read a verse out loud at dinner. Help me pray with the people in my house in a way that is real, not just routine. Let guests feel that something holy is happening here, not just schedules and chores.

Lord Jesus, You met with believers in living rooms. Meet with us in ours. Let Your church be a real thing inside these walls, not just a place we drive to on Sunday.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray
