Dads
Dad’s Prayer for October 30th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I will praise You with my whole heart. You have done marvelous works in my life. Praise is my response to what You have already done — not a way to get something from You.
There are times when my prayers are mostly asking and not enough thanking. Your good gifts pile up without me saying a word. The healing. The job that came when we needed it. The friendship that got put back together. The fear I did not even notice I had outgrown.
Let me speak one of those gifts out loud today. Not to make it smaller. Not to make it polite. Just to say what You did.
Lord Jesus, Your works are marvelous and many. Help me notice one more today and say it out loud.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
