Dads
Dad’s Prayer for October 27th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says that if I die with You, I get to live with You. The two go together. This dying is not to punish me — it's to get me ready. The part of me that has to die is the part that was never going to last anyway. The fake me. The proud me. The me that acts like I'm in charge of everything.
I've been holding on to that version of myself. Not because I like him, but because he feels familiar. Letting him go feels like losing something. But Your Word says it's the only way to really live.
Help me work with You in this dying this week. Let the urge to protect my image fade a little. Let the need to win every argument go. Let the habit of making every story about me die. As those things fall away, something better takes their place.
Lord Jesus, You died, and You rose. Help me follow Your path, even in the small things this week. The life on the other side of letting go is the life I actually want.
Amen.
