Dads
Dad's Prayer for October 24th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Psalm 104:16 says the trees You planted are full of sap. Sap is hidden. It is the inside life of a tree. It keeps the branches from breaking.
I look at the branches a lot. Did I read the Bible today? Did I pray? Did I go to church? Those things are easy to see.
But sap is the deeper question. Am I alive inside, or am I just going through the motions? I can keep the habits long after my heart has gone cold.
Keep the inside alive in me. Let my Bible reading be a real meeting with You, not just a box to check. Let my prayer be honest, not just words. Let church be about real people, not just a seat I fill.
Lord Jesus, You are the vine. Without You, the sap stops. Keep me connected to You. Let my life show real fruit because my heart is fed from the inside.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
