Dad’s Prayer for October 20th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says to grow up in all things into You. Growing up is not the enemy. You are making me into a real man.

I have not always seen it that way. I have sometimes thought faith meant staying simple and small. But You are calling me to be strong. Help me hold weight. Help me be patient with people I disagree with. Help me plan ahead. Help me take care of my home. And help me not panic when life gets hard.

Mature me. I do not need to stop feeling. I need to be solid. Make me the kind of man my kids can lean on, my wife can trust, and my friends can count on.

Lord Jesus, You are the perfect man. Shape me to be more like You by the end of this year.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
