Dads
Dad’s Prayer for October 19th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says some people stay on milk when they should be eating solid food. That hits me hard.
There are areas where I should have grown further by now. I should be more patient in my marriage. I should have my temper under better control. Generosity should not still be such a struggle. I have walked with You long enough that some of this should look different.
I do not want to stay stuck on the basics. Move me forward, not in shame, but in honest steps. Show me one place I am still stuck, and help me practice the next step until it becomes normal.
Lord Jesus, You grew in wisdom and favor with God and people. Grow me too. Even slowly. Make me a man who can handle solid food.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
