Dad’s Prayer for October 15th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says that one day Jesus will come back, and no one can stand on that day alone. The first time He came, He came quietly, in a manger. The next time will not be quiet at all.

I do not think about that day enough. It makes me uneasy. But when I forget it, I start to live like this life is all there is. I start to act as if the way I spend my time, my money, and my love does not matter to You.

Hold that day in front of me this week. Not to scare me, but to give me something to live toward. The way I treat the people I work with matters because Jesus is coming. The way I take care of what You have given me matters because Jesus is coming. The way I raise my kids and point them to You matters because Jesus is coming.

Lord Jesus, You will come like a fire that cleanses. Start that work in me now, so that when the day comes, I will not be afraid but glad.

Amen.

  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
