Dad’s Prayer for October 6th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Jesus said the water He gives becomes a well inside a person, springing up to eternal life. That is the opposite of how I usually think. I act like I have to find You, but You already put the spring inside me.

I have been treating my faith like a commute. Sunday is when I refuel. The small group is the watering hole. But the verse says the spring is in me, given by You, available at the office, in the kitchen, and at 3 a.m. when I cannot sleep.

Help me notice what is already there. The quiet push I usually brush off. The peace that surprised me on an ordinary afternoon. The clear thought You sent in the middle of a hard talk. These came from the well You planted.

Lord Jesus, You said You give the gift that does not run dry. I receive it again today. Let me draw quietly from it through the next twelve hours.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
