Dads
Dad’s Prayer for October 3rd
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You sent help I could not see. The way the kids have been protected, the near-misses on the highway, the meeting I dreaded that went better than it should have — some of that had hidden help behind it.
I am not praying to angels. I am thanking You for the quiet ways You have been looking out for us. Help I never asked for. Help I never noticed. Help that came through people and events I thought were just chance.
Open my eyes to the care around me. Not so I feel special, but so I stay humble. I am not holding this family together by myself. There has been more help than I have ever given You credit for.
Lord Jesus, You are in charge of every angel in heaven. Send the help my family needs this week, and let me notice enough of it to say thank You.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
