Dads
Dad's Prayer for October 1st
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, October is here, and the year is giving me what it is going to give. I want to do something with it.
What did the last quarter give me? Some hard wisdom, a few things finished, time with the kids, some prayers answered, some still unanswered. I have a tendency to scroll past what You have done, looking for the next thing. But You are worth the harvest right now, not just the bigger one next year.
Slow me down enough to notice. What did I receive from You that I have not thanked You for? What have I learned that I have not yet used? What relationship has grown this year that I am taking for granted? Bring those up. Let me offer them to You.
Lord Jesus, let me give what I have, not what I wish I had.
Amen.

- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
