Dad’s Prayer for September 29th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I am tempted to hide my worst parts. I want to soften the truth, act like I am mostly fine, and only bring You the clean version. But that keeps me stuck.

In the Old Testament, a man covered head to toe in disease was called clean because there was nothing left to hide. That is what I want. Not a cover-up, but full honesty.

So today I bring You the real thing. Not a soft word for it. The actual habit. The actual failure. The actual weight I carry. I do not get myself clean first. I just come.

Lord Jesus, You took on the whole disease. There is no honest confession too dirty for You. I hand You today what is really true about me, not the version I wish were true.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
