Dad’s Prayer for September 24th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I say I trust You, but I usually stack up backup plans behind my words. I tell my friends You are enough, then quietly work every angle just in case You do not come through.

There is nothing wrong with planning. But sometimes my planning says I do not really believe You will show up.

So here is what I am asking. This week, help me trust You for one thing without the safety net. The conversation I have been dreading — let me walk into it without rehearsing every word. The money worry that keeps me up at 1 a.m. — let me bring it to You and stop running worst-case plans in my head.

Lord Jesus, in the garden, You chose to trust the Father even when it meant the cross. You did not run from what was ahead. Help me follow that kind of trust in the small things this week.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
