Dads
Dad’s Prayer for September 19th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says You have made me free. Free is a strange word for me this week. Some days I do not feel free at all. I feel tied to bills, to a schedule that will not bend, to people who need me all the time.
But the freedom You give is not freedom from duty. It is freedom from trying to earn Your love. I do not have to pass a test to be Yours. I am already loved. So I can carry these duties as a free man, not as a man trying to prove he is good enough.
Help me live that way today. Say yes to the work You have given me. Say no to using it to prove my worth. I am Yours by gift, not by what I do.
Lord Jesus, You set me free. Help me act like a free man at work, at home, and in every conversation today.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
