Dads
Dad’s Prayer for September 16th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says in 2 Peter 1:4 that You invite me to share in Your own goodness. Not to become God, but to receive from You things that only You fully have. Patience. Putting up with people even when it is hard. Kindness. Real love. The power to forgive and not keep track.
I do not have enough of these things. I run out by Wednesday. When You promise to share Your goodness with me, You are not saying I will become something I was never meant to be on my own. You are saying that what I cannot make happen in my own strength becomes possible because I am joined to Jesus.
So when I need patience I do not have, I will not just try harder. I will look to Him. When I need to forgive someone, and I cannot do it on my own, I will not force myself. I will ask Him to forgive through me.
Lord Jesus, share Your goodness with me today in one small, real way. Give me one moment of true kindness toward someone I am tired of. That would be more than I could ever do on my own.
Amen.
