Dad’s Prayer for September 15th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says that a man whose heart is set on You will not be shaken by bad news. Not flexible based on the headlines. Fixed on You.

My heart is not fixed. When the market drops, I drop. When my kid has a hard day, I carry it home. When a friend goes quiet, I start to worry. I let every text and every call set my mood.

Fix my heart, Lord. Not stiff, but steady. Let me read the news without losing my peace. Let me get a hard text and not fall apart. Let me take the call I did not want and not react out of fear.

Jesus, You faced the worst news any man could face, and You held steady. Put that same steadiness in me this week. Help me come home tonight calm, even if the day was rough.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
