Dads
Dad’s Prayer for September 11th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says to come out from among them and be separate. Help me do that in the everyday way, not by leaving the world, but by not copying what everyone else is doing.
It is hard at work to stay myself. The complaining, the cynicism, the little lies in the meeting, the laugh at the wrong joke, the eye-roll about the boss, the pressure to go along when I should not — all of it pulls me to be like the room.
Give me the steadiness to stay myself in those rooms. Not preachy. Not better than anyone. Just unwilling to fold. Let the small refusals add up to a man whose words people can trust.
Lord Jesus, You were in the world but not of it. Help me live that way without pulling away from everyone. Keep me present and clean at the same time.
Amen.

- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
