Dad’s Prayer for September 9th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You said in Jeremiah 33:3, Call to Me, and I will answer You, and show You great and mighty things You do not know. The offer is open. The line is live. I am the one who keeps not picking up.

I tend to call only when things go wrong. My prayer life turns into a list of emergencies with long, quiet gaps in between. I forget how to just talk to You.

Train me to call more. A short prayer before the day starts. A quiet word before a hard moment. A quick thanks in the middle of lunch. Let calling You become my first move, not my last.

Lord Jesus, You taught us to pray about daily bread and daily needs. Make me a man who calls You about an ordinary Tuesday, not just about disaster. Show me that some of Your great things are small — a better view of what matters, a kinder tone with my family, a thought I needed right on time.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
