Dads
Dad's Prayer for September 1st
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Psalm 73:24 says You will guide me with Your counsel and afterward receive me to glory. I need that guidance now. September is here, and the school year brings new schedules, new homework, and new tension at the breakfast table. I am not sure how to handle all of it. Be the first one I turn to, not the last. Help me ask You before I check the article, before I text the friend, before I form my own opinion. I am not asking for a roadmap. I am asking for help with the next conversation, the next email, the next decision about my kid's screens. Lord Jesus, You sent the Spirit to lead us into truth. Let that leading show up in plain choices this week. Help me trust the small nudges I usually brush aside. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
