Dads
Dad’s Prayer for August 14th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Psalm 92:4 says You have made me glad through Your work. Not through my work. Through Yours. I am tempted to think my gladness should follow my week. A good week and I feel fine. A hard one, and I am sour by Friday.
But the work that truly grounds my gladness is not on my to-do list. It is what Christ did for me. He paid for my sin. He welcomed me in. That cannot be undone by a bad week. It cannot be earned by a good one.
Let that be where I draw my joy this week. Not from the project that closes. Not from the email that arrives. Not from whether someone is happy with me. From what You did once, that holds. The rest can rise and fall.
Lord Jesus, Your finished work is my steady source. Make me glad in it today, even if the day disappoints.
Amen.
