Dads
Dad’s Prayer for August 12th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Psalm 97:1 says, “The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice.” That is a fact. And it is a command to a man like me who keeps checking the day's news to see if it is still true.
I do not get to skip the rejoicing just because the news is hard. The rejoicing rests on what is true, not on how I feel about it right now. You reign in slow seasons, in long waits, in the quiet stretch between answered prayers.
Loosen my tight grip on outcomes. Let me say it out loud today, in the car or at my desk — the Lord reigns. Then let me move into the next task like a man who is not carrying the weight of the world.
Lord Jesus, You sit at the right hand of the Father. Rule my Wednesday. Help me live under Your care, not under my own worry.
Amen.

- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
