Dads
Dad's Prayer for August 11th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Job in chapter 29, verse 2 wished he could go back to the days when You watched over him. I know that feeling. There were seasons when my faith felt closer to the surface. The kids were smaller. Work felt like a call, not a grind.
But You did not leave. You are watching now. The past was not better because You were nearer. It was different because I was different. The present is harder because it is more honest, not because You stepped back.
Bring me into the present. Let me stop longing for an earlier season and start receiving the kind of love that holds a man in the middle of his life. Slower. Deeper. More constant.
Lord Jesus, You are with me now, in the middle of my story. Help me trust Your care today as much as I treasure the memories of early days.
Amen.
