Dad’s Prayer for July 21st

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I have real worries that are not armies, but they still feel big. A budget that will not balance. A kid who will not talk to me. A friendship I keep putting off. A health number I do not like. I carry these around in my head and chew on them late at night.

In Isaiah 37, Hezekiah got a scary letter and spread it out before You. That is the move I want to learn. Teach me to lay my worries out before You, too. Not to look good, but because I am small and You are God.

Then I can sleep, even when nothing is fixed, because You have seen it all.

Lord Jesus, You faced every threat with calm. Give me some of that quiet today. Help me act, not panic. Help me bring my hardest things to You first, before I check the news or start my day.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray
