Dad’s Prayer for July 12th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says in Jude that those who belong to You are kept by Jesus Christ. Kept. I lean on that word today. I am not the one holding myself in place.

Some days it is easier to believe my faith is mostly my work — my study, my prayers, my choices. And those matter. But underneath all of it, the real grip is Yours. You are the One keeping me from drifting all the way out.

That truth is not a reason to stop trying. It is the ground under my feet that lets me do the next ordinary thing without panic. Help me today to be the kind of man who reflects that he belongs to You — not by my own strength, but by Your hold on me.

Lord Jesus, when I forget who is holding whom, remind me. Carry me through the long hours of this week. Let the slow work of making me more like You go on, even when I cannot see it and even when I am too tired to push it forward.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
