Dads
Dad's Prayer for July 11th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, my faith on a good Sunday feels strong. My faith on a Tuesday afternoon, three hours into a hard conversation, does not.
You said in 1 Peter 5:10 that after we have suffered a little while, You will make us perfect, established, strengthened, and settled. So I am asking You to do that for me. Do not let the hard things in my life go to waste. Use them to make me steady in faith, in love, and in patience with the people in my house.
I am done asking only for an easier week. Give me a strengthened week. Where the friction would have flattened me last year, let it form me this year. Where I would have lashed out, help me hold my tongue. Where I would have quit, help me finish.
Lord Jesus, You suffered first, and You finished. Settle me into that same kind of long obedience.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
