Dad’s Prayer for July 10th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I love my country, but I belong to Your kingdom first.

You said in Ephesians 2:19 that I am a fellow citizen with Your people. Not a visitor. Not someone just passing through. A citizen.

Keep me from living like I am far from home. My passport is real. My mortgage is real. But my true home is with You. And most of the people I love most are walking this same road.

Change how I work this week. My job is not my identity. My politics do not own my temper. The money I earn belongs to a generous King, so help me be generous too.

Lord Jesus, You are the King I serve. Let my Tuesday show it. Let me walk through my day like a man who knows where home is.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
