Dads
Dads Prayer for July 9th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You said in Psalm 103:2, do not forget all His benefits. I forget by lunchtime. By the time I am driving home, the morning's small kindnesses — the kid's hug, the green lights, the friend who texted — are buried under the day's complaints.
Help me build a memory that works. Not a journal I will quit in three weeks, but a daily habit of noticing one specific thing You did and saying it out loud to You. Even better, saying it out loud at dinner, so my family hears that the day was not all bad.
Forgetting is not some small thing. It pulls me toward complaint and makes thanklessness my normal. I do not want that to be my voice in this house.
Lord Jesus, You have carried me through more than I have counted. Bring some of it to mind tonight and give me words to say it.
Amen.
