Dads
Dad’s Prayer for July 6th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, the news is full of bad things. Wars. Job losses. Hard times. Families breaking apart. I read the headlines and feel the fear grow. I am not asked to fix any of it. And that is what is hard. I want to do something.
You said in Proverbs 1:33 that whoever listens to You will live in safety and not be afraid of harm. That does not mean the storm goes away. It means I can stand firm in the middle of it. The famine still came. You kept Elijah safe by a brook. The exile still came. You kept Daniel safe through it all.
Help me not to keep reading when I should stop. Help me bring my worry to You. Then help me put the phone down and be with my family.
Lord Jesus, my real work is right here. This home. This job. These people. Give me Your peace inside while I do it. Let my family feel safe, not because I am strong, but because You are with us.
Amen.
