Dads
Dad’s Prayer for July 5th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I do not feel like a saint. I drive to work, lose my temper in traffic, and check my email at stoplights. That is my normal day.
But You said in Your Word that ordinary believers are called saints. Not because we are good enough, but because You chose us and You will finish what You started. That is grace I did not earn.
Do not let my failures make me forget who You say I am. Keep me from making it all about me. Put Yourself back at the center.
Lord Jesus, I am Yours. Help me live like it in the small places this week. Give me courage for the hard talk at work. Help me say sorry where I need to. Give me patience with the people at home. Make me an ordinary saint in an ordinary week.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
