Dad’s Prayer for June 26th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father,

In Isaiah 14, the dead ask a proud king, "Have You become like us?" That question levels me too.

The people I rank above me and below me will stand on the same ground before You. The mortgage, the title at the office, the size of my paycheck — none of it buys an exception.

Help me work today in light of that truth. Make me less impressed by status. Make me less anxious about my own. Let me treat the assistant and the executive with the same respect, because in the end, You welcome us by grace, not by rank.

Teach me to live now in light of the day I cannot postpone. Help me live well in the time You have given me, not for my name, but for Yours.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
