Dad’s Prayer for June 14th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word tells me to delight in You. I admit I skip that part. I do my duty. I try to serve. But delight? I do that less. Teach me what it looks like for a man like me. Not big, showy worship. More like the quiet joy of a good meal, the peace of an honest day's work done for You, the gladness of seeing good gifts and knowing they came from Your hand. Help me see Your gifts this week and thank You for them instead of just taking them as they come. Amen.

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
