Dad’s Prayer for June 9th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord, You have done great things for us, and we have reason to be glad. Psalm 126 says it well. Help me practice this. The good things You have done for our family — the prayer You answered, the door that opened when another one closed, the hard season we got through — help me name them out loud. At the dinner table, if the moment is right. In the car, if I am alone. When I name what You have done, my joy comes back. Without remembering, I forget. Without forgetting, my joy gets small and shaped by the news of the day. Pull me back to the bigger story — Your story of faithfulness to us. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
