Dad’s Prayer for June 7th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord, Your Word says that if we love You, we will hate evil. I have softened my hatred of evil to be polite. I have called things "complicated" that You call evil. Sharpen me. Not toward hatred of people. Toward hatred of what destroys them. The pornography industry is destroying men I know. The gambling apps are destroying friends. The casual cruelty in our talk is destroying neighborhoods. Let me not go soft on any of these out of fear of being called extreme. Help me hate evil. Help me love people. Help me hold the two together without flinching.

Amen.
