Dads Prayer for June 3rd

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, 1 Chronicles 4:23 says some potters lived and worked in the king's workshop, doing the king's work right where they dwelt. That is most of my life. The work where I live. The work that may never make the news, but still serves a King. Let me dwell with You at my work today. Not as a nice idea, but as the real way I face this day. The spreadsheet is the king's work. The call I am dreading is the king's work. The conversation with the person nobody likes is the king's work. Give weight to the small tasks by being present with me in them. That is what it looks like to dwell with the king for his work in 2026.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
