Dads Prayer for May 27th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I am like Mephibosheth. I come to Your table with my weakness still with me. I did not earn this place. You set it for me. My struggles have not gone away. My failures still come back. But none of them push me out of Your house. The table is still set. The seat still has my name on it. Help me eat here with deep thanks. I was lifted here by Your mercy, not by anything I did. Let Your mercy be what I see most. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
