Dads
Dad’s Prayer for May 20th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, "Wonderful, lovingkindness." That's what Psalm 17:7 says, Father. Wonderful — strange, surprising, more than I expected. I have stopped being surprised by Your kindness. It has become so normal that I forget to notice. Help me notice again. The fact that You love me at all is bigger than any headline. The fact that I have clothes on my back, food on my table, a family, and freedom is bigger than all my complaints put together. Open my eyes to what is truly wonderful. By tonight, let me notice at least one kindness so fresh that it almost makes me laugh — the way my wife's hand rests on the back of my neck as she walks by, the way my kid's drawing is taped to the fridge, the way the paycheck came again this week. Amen.
