Dad’s Prayer for May 15th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord, Your Word says all who believe are made right with You. That is plain news, and it should be the most relaxing thing a working man hears this week. I am made right with You. Not "will be if I keep my act together." Am. Right now. That will not change, no matter how this day goes. So let me work because I am already made right, not to try to earn it. That freedom is hard to explain. Free to fail honestly. Free to succeed without making it too big. Free to be patient with the people I am tempted to push around. This good news changes a plain Tuesday. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
