Dad’s Prayer for May 14th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says I am a joint heir with Christ. Joint, as in I inherit what He inherits. That word startles me every time. I get so worried about having enough for my family. But the verse is talking about something much bigger. I am co-heir with Your Son of all that is His. That should make my worry about money feel strange. I am a millionaire who is sweating quarters. Change my heart. Let me work today out of an inheritance, not toward one. Let me parent today out of an inheritance, not anxiously protecting a smaller one. There is enough. There will be enough. The inheritance is unshakable. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
